Trey’s Story
Trey Rusthoven’s journey is one of quiet perseverance and undeniable talent rising through barriers. As a young Black golfer, he often found himself the only player of color on the course, fighting not just for wins – but for recognition. Despite limited access and the constant pressure of being overlooked, Trey refused to be defined by his circumstances.
With a great support system and an unrelenting drive to succeed, he broke through – earning spots in elite national events like the U.S. Junior Amateur, Junior PGA Championship, and the APGA Ascension Charity Classic, where he competed against seasoned professionals. As a true freshman at Central Michigan, Trey earned national honors, including a spot on the BCGCA-GCAA Division I All-Freshmen Team.
But Trey’s story isn’t just about his success – it’s about the path he’s paving for others. Through his foundation, he’s committed to leveling the fairway for underrepresented youth and young pros who dream big but lack access.
